Laura McCarty Tufano is a Certified Fund Raising Executive and has raised money for social justice, the arts, education, and human services over the course of her 20-year career. After directing overall development efforts at NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota and OutFront Minnesota, Laura spent several years specializing in individual giving. She increased individual giving revenue at the Minnesota Orchestra, Goodwill/Easter Seals, Breck School, and Big Brothers Big Sisters. As the Vice President of Advancement at Big Brothers Big Sisters, Laura provided strategic oversight for fundraising, volunteer recruitment, marketing, and brand management.

Today Laura provides results-focused advancement and fundraising help to nonprofits through Tufano Consulting.

Laura was a featured speaker for the online conference “Successful AF: The Secret Sauce to LGBTQ Non-Profits” in February 2019. In the summer of 2019, Laura presented a workshop entitled “The Reluctant Fundraiser” at the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits’ Nonprofit Leadership Conference, and another workshop entitled “Getting Started with Major Gifts” at the Nonprofit Fundraising Conference, co-hosted by the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits and the Minnesota chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

 

In addition to her professional work, Laura has spent many years serving on nonprofit boards and committees and volunteering as a mentor to emerging fundraisers through the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Laura has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Iowa and a Master of Public Policy from the University of Minnesota.
